Fallout over a police raid at a Fort Worth gay bar early Sunday morning quickly became a major news story beyond Texas within hours.
Even before protesters demonstrated Sunday (right), activists were posting their comments on the Web.
A post on the raid, in which witnesses say excessive force was used and one patron was sent to the hospital, got wider attention after a blogger on the popular liberal blog, Daily Kos, wrote about it.
The story has also spread through the national gay community via Twitter. More than 200 people have tweeted about the incident, most expressing concern or outrage.
And a Facebook group protesting the incident has more than 1,000 members. The group was started by Todd Camp, one of the organizers of yesterday's protest and a former Star-Telegram writer.
