Truck driver stopped for headlamp but admits to stealing rig

"I know what this is about," a truck driver told Parker County deputies who just pulled him over Monday in Azle.

Fred Fuentes, 47, of Fort Worth was behind the wheel of a 2006 tractor-trailer rig.

Deputies asked him what he was talking about. 

"Why you stopped me," replied Fuentes.

The deputies decided to play. Ok, why the stop?

"Because the truck is stolen," Fuentes said.

Actually, it was because of a non-working headlamp, but deputies were eager to know more about the stolen truck.

And that's how Fuentes landed in the Parker County Jail.

Drunken driver smashes up town -- in a combine

A 21-year-old went on a drunken driving spree in a combine, of all things, in Iowa this week.

Here's a graph from the WCF (Waterloo, Cedar Falls) Courier:

"Dominic Bjerke is accused of stealing the machine sometime after 2 a.m., damaging three properties and a bridge and taking out several street signs. He also is accused of driving the combine into four cars and a garage and knocking a handrail off a home's porch."

No word on whether he brought in the corn crop as well.

Who's the burglar? Check the dead guy, of course

A burglar in Burjassot, Spain, is our dumb criminal of the day -- so far.

The man broke into a funeral home in that small town near Valencia and then tried to hide as a dead man when police and the business owner arrived.

But, his plot was disturbed by two telltale flaws that put a nail in his scheme's coffin.

One, he breathed. And, two, he was the only "corpse" wearing grungy clothes rather than the more formal attire people are usually buried in. Now that he's been arrested, the man's situation is a little more grave. OK, bad puns. I'll lay it to rest.
