Mansfield school district police have shed more light on the 2009 case involving Brandon Ashley McDaniel, the Arlington high school teacher arrested Tuesday on charges of having sex with two students.
At the time of the report, Arlington police referred the case to the Mansfield department after determining that the alleged incident occurred within its jurisdiction.
The complaint was assault by bodily contact, a Class C misdemeanor, but the alleged victim declined to press charges, Mansfield Sgt. Greg Minter said Wednesday.
"The case came to us as a referral," Minter said. "We didn't have a complainant physically come to us. We contacted the parties involved, and during the course of the investigation, the decision was reached not to prosecute."
In that case, according to Arlington arrest warrant affidavits obtained Tuesday, a student had reported that McDaniel "grabbed her jaw and kissed her on the lips" and that he "had inappropriate conversations with other students and would invite them to his residence."
