On the troll for a holiday job? Time to get it in gear
Here's today's print Star-Telegram story on the outlook for holiday hiring this fall.
The Challenger, Gray & Christmas outplacement consulting firm noted today that recent major announcements totalled 200,000 seasonal workers who will be hired this fall. Challenger also pointed out that UPS' announcement that it plans to hire 50,000 seasonal workers means retailers aren't the only potential sources of holiday jobs.
"Opportunities also exist in areas such as food service, hospitality and leisure," Challenger said.
"Jobseekers also should not limit their searches to the biggest employers. Toys 'R Us will undoubtedly be swamped with applicants, making it extremly competitive. Meanwhile, small mom-and-pop toy stores may be overlooked."
