Six Flags Hurricane Harbor holding March 5-6 job fairs to fill 350 summer slots

Six Flags Hurricane Harbor is holding a couple of job fairs March 5-6 to fill more than 350 jobs for the summer at the Arlington water park.

The fairs are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday March 5, and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday March 6, both at the Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Harbor Center, 1800 E. Lamar Blvd.

Jobs include lifeguard, ride attendant, guest services, retail, security, food, and park services.

Hurricane Harbor is promoting the posts both as potential first jobs, and opportunities for extra income.

Benefits include free admission for family and friends, private employee events, flexible hours, “great pay and more,” Hurricane Harbor says.

Hawaiian Falls waterparks holding March job fairs to hire summer help

Hawaiian Falls waterparks in Mansfield, Roanoke, The Colony, and Garland will hold job fairs in March to hire people for the summer season.

The parks are hiring lifeguards, supervisors, ride attendants, cashiers, ticket takers, cooks, housekeeping and maintenance workers.

The “waterparks seek youth 15 years and older, plus college students and adults for supervisory positions,” Hawaiian Falls says in a release.

USAA launches hiring at soon-to-open Addison center

USAA has launched the planned hiring of 200 financial advisers at a new center in Addison.

The San Antonio firm made offers to the first group of 15 advisers three weeks ago and expects to begin training them March 14, said Kevin Beall, a USAA executive director and leader of the Financial Advice Contact Center at Addison, which will open March 14.

USAA wants to hire 80 advisers this year for the center and a total 200 by the end of 2012, Beall said.

The firm is looking for people who already have experience in financial advice – investment and retirement plannng, life insurance – and have the requisite licenses, such as the Series 7 securities license, and designations such as certified financial planner.

Compensation is non-commissioned, Beall said. The Addison Center will have a small retail operation for walk-in business, but advisers will largely work with clients over the phone, he said.

USAA expects significant growth in the next few years and wanted to be in the North Texas area, in part because of the labor pool, Beall said.

"We’ve come across a lot of great individuals," Beall said. "We’re seeing a lot of advisers with 10-, 15, 20 years of experience. We’ve seen people with the minimal experience of two years. We’re seeing a lot of great candidates who aren’t working, some retired and looking to get back into the workforce, and competitors looking for additional growth opportunties."

Legoland Discovery Center holding job fair Monday and Tuesday

The soon-to-open Legoland Discovery Center Dallas/Fort Worth in Grapevine still has job openings, and it’s having a job fair Monday and Tuesday.

The fair sessions are Monday and Tuesday Feb. 21-22 at the Grapevine Concourse, 3800 Fairway Drive, Grapevine, next to the Grapevine Golf Course.

Session times are 1 p.m., 3 p.m., 5 p.m., and 7 p.m. both days.

“Applicants simply come to the start of any the sessions and bring their resume with them,” Legoland says.

The Discovery Center is hiring for middle managers (admissions manager, guest experience manager, and duty manager), technical staff, finance and bookkeeping, and frontline people in admissions, café, and guest relations (or, as Legoland refers to them, “model citizens.”)

Minimum age to apply is 16. The Discovery Center opens March 30.
