Kohl's expects same number of holiday hires this year
Kohl’s Department Stores reports today that it expects to hire the same number of holiday workers per store that it did last year, while total holiday hiring will rise about 5 percent to more than 40,000 on an increase in the number of stores.
“Consistent with 2010 hiring levels, Kohl’s anticipates hiring an average 35 associates per store” at its 1,127 stores in 49 states, the company said.
The company said it also expects to hire about 2,500 seasonal workers at its distribution centers and more than 500 seasonal and fulltime people in credit operations.
Kohl’s said it added “thousands of jobs” this fall with the openings of 30 new stores.
Seasonal associates can work between a few hours to more than 20 hours per week, the company said.
Typical jobs in the stores include unloading trucks, freight processing, stocking, and cash register duties.
At the stores, “hiring began this month, and most jobs will be filled by mid-November,” Kohl’s said.
Hiring at the distribution centers began in August. For more info, please visit the Kohl's web site.
