Blue Mesa Grill headed to Arlington's Lincoln Square this fall

The popular Dallas-based Blue Mesa Grill this fall will expand with a restaurant in the former Talbots spot in Arlington’s Lincoln Square.

Jim Baron, Blue Mesa Grill president, said they have been scouting a location at Lincoln Square, at Interstate 30 and Collin Street, for a long time.

The restaurant hopes to open by September in the 5,600-square-foot spot, large enough for about 250 diners. They’ll also open a 2,000-square-foot all-weather patio, which can accommodate about 50 diners, Baron said.

"We are in the final stages on that location," Baron said. "It’s going to pretty much be perfect for us. It’s a very tried and true center. Everybody does well. I feel very good about it."

Baron said Lincoln Square was chosen, in part, because of its close proximity to the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys stadiums, and for the shuttle service the shopping center offers to those fields on game days.

The restaurant will feature a tequila bar, catering, and a Sunday brunch, which on average draws about 500 diners at its other restaurants.

"Catering’s going to be big," he said.

Baron said he is in final lease negotiations and soon will be applying for building permits. The restaurant will have 50 to 70 full- and part-time employees.

The location is one of two Blue Mesa Grills opening this year. The other is in Lubbock, near Texas Tech University. It is also planning a location of its Tacos & Tequila restaurant in Uptown Dallas. The only other Tacos & Tequila is in Austin. Blue Mesa Grill is in University Park Village in Fort Worth, Addison, Dallas, North Plano and Southlake.

Lincoln Square this year is also adding a Michaels store, an arts and crafts retailer, and Ulta, a seller of beauty products.
