RadioShack hires new CFO from Dollar General

RadioShack has hired another retail veteran to join the company's executive team.

John W. Feray, previously a senior vice president at Dollar General, has joined the Fort Worth-based consumer electronics chain as executive vice president and chief financial officer. He replaces Holly Etlin, a consultant with AlixPartners who had been serving as interim CFO since the summer when former CFO Dorvin Lively left the company to join Planet Fitness. Etlin will continue to work with the company.

RadioShack CEO Joseph C. Magnacca, who has been rebuilding the executive team since taking the reins nearly a year ago, said, "We are extremely pleased to have a finance professional with John's experience join us as we move forward with our turnaround plan. John worked as a key member of the finance team that was responsible for the significant financial improvement at Dollar General, and has the strong operational orientation needed to contribute to our strategic efforts. We will benefit from his leadership and insight as we look to increase our operational efficiency and re-build the business in 2014 and beyond."

Prior to joining Dollar General, where he was Senior Vice President-Finance and Strategy since 2008, Feray served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of First American Payment Systems and spent several years as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Dallas-based Haggar Corp.

Over the last year, Magnacca has hired a new chief marketing officer, chief merchandising officer,  senior vice presidents of store concepts, franchise, global sourcing, and inventory planning and allocation and a vice president of strategic communications.
