One Longview elementary teacher had been wearing his Obama T-shirt every day to school. But KLTV reports that prompted the school district to ban all teachers from wearing any political paraphernalia during instructional time. They quote district officials as saying this is the first time they have asked teachers not to wear political-related items because "there does seem to be more interest, more excitement, maybe even more controversy nationwide on the presidential race. If we didn't put a stop to it now, pretty soon or later, it was going to be a distraction whether it was with this employee or someone else." With so much excitement building in Tarrant County -- we've already broken early voting records -- I wonder what folks around here think about this. Thoughts?

A school is a gun free zone and since Obama has so many radical ties to bombing terrorist etc, he should be banned from any school, or for that matter the USA.

I say good for them A teacher has no right to promote one candiate over the other in school. Let them do it on there on there time not my kids time. My taxes payes for them to teach not to promote politics.

Why shouldn't kids learn about politics? They are going to be voters themselves one day. That was the excuse the McCain campaign used when they had to bus in 4,000 kids to fill seats at one of his events.
