Texas has the tenth highest graduation rate among 34 states who report to the National Governors Association's compact graduation rate, the Texas Education Agency reports.
What that means is, the four-year, on-time graduation rate in Texas (2010 figures) is 84.3 percent .
That doesn't count students who complete high school in more than 4 years, or who get GEDs later.
Broken down into groups, the report says Texas has the second-highest white graduation rate of 91.6 percent, the fourth-highest Hispanic graduation rate (tied with Arkansas) at 78.8 percent, and the fifth-highest African-American rate at 78.8 percent.
