Keller school board members are scheduled to vote on a lone finalist for superintendent at a special meeting Monday night.
"We are very, very excited about the person we'll be presenting on Monday night," board President Kevin Stevenson said Friday. "We got the candidate we thought was the best fit for students, staff and the community."
Trustees have been busy drawing up profiles, sifting through resumes and conducting interviews. Monday night's meeting will be the eighth in the last month called specifically to address the superintendent search. Board members interviewed six candidates in person and called back the top two for a second round.They conducted the final interview Thursday night. Stevenson said the quality of candidates was "tremendous."
If the finalist is approved, district officials and the candidate must observe a 21-day waiting period before the contract can be signed.
Stevenson said he would expect the new leader to be in place before school resumes Aug. 27. The newcomer replaces James Veitenheimer who left Keller to take the top job in a suburban Arizona district.
