Meat judging contest cancelled on report of code violations at packing plant

The Fort Worth Stock Show says the annual Intercollegiate Meat Judging Contest, to be held Saturday at the Columbia Meat Packing Co. plant in Dallas, has been cancelled. The reason: Problems at the Columbia plant. The city of Dallas recently issued a letter to the company, asserting multiple code violations. According to a CBS 11 report, the plant temporarily shut down earlier this week to deal with the problems.

Shanna Weaver, spokesman for the Stock Show, said the sponsors of the contest made their decision a few days ago.
