The Stock Show Syndicate and other groups that raise money to buy livestock from youth exhibitors at the annual Sale.of.Champions have new help this year.
A new group calling itself the Fort Worth Business Women, and organized through the Syndicate, is raising money to spend in the auction. Becky Renfro Borbolla, head of the group, says 33 women including Mayor Betsy Price have committed the $500 entry contribution.
"If everyone comes through, I believe we'll have $21 to $25,000 to spend, possibly up to $30,000," she said.
The group wants to buy one steer, preferably raised by a girl, she said.
Larry Anfin, head of the Syndicate, welcomes the help. The Syndicate has no female.members, he said.
