New leader picked at TxDot

AmadeoAmadeo Saenz is now the man in charge at the Texas Department of Transportation. The Texas Transportation Commission on Thursday selected him unanimously as the new executive director. The 29-year department veteran is the first Hispanic leader in the agency's 90-year history, officials said.

He's been assistant executive director for more than five years. Prior to that, he was district engineer in Pharr. He was credited with quickly rebuilding the Queen Isabell Causeway after it was struck by a barge and collapsed in 2001.

He's a native of Hebbronville and still lives there on a small cattle ranch ... when he's not in Austin.

In Texas you are issued two license plates and you must have both on your vehicle. Sorry you don't think it looks good, but that's the law, and I wish every person who didn't display both plates or display them correctly would be issued citations.
