This is an e-mail from Mel, a reader and Honkin' Mad veteran:
Gordo, When I'm coming North on Bryant Irvin at night I take a right to dip down to Vickery. There have been a couple of times that the dadblamed camera has gone off. I haven't run any lights. What's up with that??
Question #2, because you know me... well, what in the tarnation are you supposed to do if you are past the middle of the intersection, the light is short and goes yellow and the light turn red? Are you supposed to A. Back up and get back into position? That is if there isn't a car behind you. B. Speed up and drive like a bat outta hell to miss the camera? C. Hit the joker who didn't know what in the daylights to do in the first place?
And lastly but never leastly: What is the real deal about that vanishing plate spray?? Is it just high gloss enamal? Does it have flecks of glitter in it to cause the over exposure?
And just for the halibut: Cars look awful with a front plate on them. BTW: Did I tell ya I got to sit in a DeLorean the other day? If ya wanna know, I'll tell ya the whole story. It's pretty funny actually.... mel

Mel: If you were already past the white stop line when the light turned red, you won't be sent a ticket. Sometimes the flash goes off and a video is captured, then reviewed by a human at the contractor hired by the city to operate the lights, and assuming that person has a brain it should be obvious that you didn't commit a violation. If for some reason that person is a dufus and declares that you committed a violation, a city police officer must also review the video before approving your ticket, ... Theoretically that officer would see that you didn't commit the offense and cancel the ticket.

In Texas you are issued two license plates and you must have both on your vehicle. Sorry you don't think it looks good, but that's the law, and I wish every person who didn't display both plates or display them correctly would be issued citations.
