Fewer buses, no trains, on Labor Day

T buses will operate on a reduced schedule Sunday and Monday because of the Labor Day weekend, Fort Worth Transportation Authority officials said. The Trinity Railway Express will not run Sunday or Monday. Administrative offices will be closed, but riders may call the T’s customer service line — 817-215-8600 — from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.

TxDot goes on Hurricane alert

Texas Department of Transportation crews are sweeping shoulders and patching pavement on highways that may be needed for hurricane evacuation this weekend, officials said.
The agency's south Texas districts are all on standby. Electronic message signs in Houston, Beaumont and Coastal Bend regions are displaying this message:
"HURRICANE     SEASON     IS HERE
KEEP YOUR     GAS TANKS     FULL"

As Tropical Storm Gustav approaches Texas, the Emergency Operations Center in Austin will open Friday.

183, 35E lane closures Saturday in Dallas

Beware if you're planning to drive to Dallas Saturday:

Two eastbound lanes on Texas 183 and one southbound lane on Interstate 35E will be closed 6 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Trinity Railway Express bridge in Dallas County. The closures will be from Regal Row to Commonwealth Drive, just southeast of Texas Stadium. The closures are needed to inspect and repair the TRE bridge, which was struck by a tractor-trailer two weeks ago, Texas Department of Transportation officials said.
