Avoid Interstate 35W in north Fort Worth this weekend! Southbound 35W from Basswood Boulevard to North Loop 820 will be reduced to one lane for concrete pavement repair. The closure will be 11 p.m. Friday to 6 p.m. Sunday. All ramps will be open, but delays will be massive (worse than usual, in other words), according to the Texas Department of Transportation.
In Sundance Square, time is almost up for free parking.
The commuter rail line from downtown Fort Worth to Dallas is adding rush hour and evening trains beginning Oct. 6.
For Dallas-bound train riders, a new train leaves CentrePort at 4:35 p.m. and arrives at Union Station at 5:05 p.m.
For Fort Worth-bound riders:
Also, many other train departures have been tweaked by up to 25 minutes.
Finally, Saturday service has been added to improve bus connections in Fort Worth, including a westbound train that departs CentrePort at 7:25 a.m. and arrives at ITC at 7:56 a.m., and a train that departs Union Station at 11:45 p.m. and ends at CentrePort at 12:16 a.m.
I stopped by the park-and-ride lot at Lamar and Cooper, and there were 10 cars. That's an average of 3.3 riders for each of the three buses that depart for Fort Worth each morning (assuming each car has only one occupant).
I didn't have a chance to go by the other Arlington park-and-ride at Park Springs and I-20. Anyone know how that one is doing?
The State Fair of Texas kicks off Friday, and the 52-foot Cowboy who keeps guard over the place is primped and ready ... and sporting a canary yellow shirt !?!? Watch a video here.
