Trinity Railway Express tweaks schedule

The commuter rail line from downtown Fort Worth to Dallas is adding rush hour and evening trains beginning Oct. 6.Tre

For Dallas-bound train riders,  a new train leaves CentrePort at 4:35 p.m. and arrives at Union Station at 5:05 p.m.

For Fort Worth-bound riders:

  • A new train leaves CentrePort at 5:22 a.m. and arrives at the Intermodal Transportation Center at 5:54 a.m.
  • A new train leaves Union Station at 7:15 a.m. and arrives at CentrePort at 7:45 a.m.
  • A new train leaves Union Station at 11:45 p.m. and arrives at CentrePort at 12:15 a.m.

Tre2Also, many other train departures have been tweaked by up to 25 minutes.
Finally, Saturday service has been added to improve bus connections in Fort Worth, including  a westbound train that departs CentrePort at 7:25 a.m. and arrives at ITC at 7:56 a.m., and a train that departs Union Station at 11:45 p.m. and ends at CentrePort at 12:16 a.m.

Still a long way to go - NO SUNDAY OR HOLIDAY SERVICE. This will never be a world-class operation until it operates 7 days a week.
It's not a ridership issue anymore. The demand has been proven now and the citizens are ready to move up to the next level.
If they want taxpayer support for the Rail North Texas initiative, give us train (and bus) service on Sundays and holidays that we can use 100% of the time.

Yeah, I wonder why they don't give it a try for six months -- maybe just run four or five trains each way on Sundays -- and see what the demand is like.
