Commuters who use Northeast Loop 820 in North Richland Hills and Haltom City will be interested to know that a deal to expand the road and add both toll and toll-free lanes is about to be announced. The Texas Department of Transportation on Thursday is expected to select one of two proposals from private bidders to rebuild Loop 820, as well as portions of Interstate 35W in north Fort Worth and Texas 121/183 Airport Freeway in Bedford, Euless and Hurst.
It's a package worth more than $1 billion, collectively known as North Tarrant Express. The Loop 820 portion of the project reportedly could be under construction by year's end. This is gonna be an interesting deal because it's one of the few privately developed toll projects still allowed under state law.
Who are these developers?
All of them are consortiums of companies, both foreign and domestic ...

Great....more roads. When are our leaders going to realize that more roads does not solve the congestion problems? This is absolutely pathetic.

Here we go again another toll road to be mismanaged and gouge us out of our hard earned money. It is ridiculous instead of fixing the real issue TexDot & their management or mismanagement, build another toll road. But, of course this time they hang the carrot, there will be some free lanes. Not to mention the big traffic mess it is going to create again during the construction.

This has been over due about a 25 years. The city and state fail to do their homework on the pop. growth since the days they were running texas long cows down main street. It all about getting the tax payers money and reminded us that we are just a bunch of cows in a pen. hurry up and wait in everything you try to do. We dont believe in planning ahead.
