Scammers are out there trying to take advantage of people by offering to register car owners in the Cash For Clunkers program, the Texas attorney general's office warns. The federal program, which offers credits of up to $4,500 for car owners to trade in their smog-belchers for a new ride, does not require registration, AG Greg Abbott says.

Trade-in vehicles must be registered and insured continuously for the full year preceding the trade-in plus they can't be over 25 years old and they must get 18 MPG or less.
How are the scammers getting around the requirements?

CRIMINAL WASTE OF TAXPAYER FUNDS
online.wsj.com/article/SB124485495153311725.html
$4,000,000,000 that will ultimately be wasted to line the pockets of sleazy car dealers. Imagine what could be accomplised if this were used to fund much-needed infrastructure projects.
The interest alone on this amount would be enough to operate 150 to 200 commuter rail lines... forever.

Why in the name of Hell is my money going for someone else to unload their POS. I keep my vehicles mantained and in excellent condition. Once again because I am a person who 'takes care of my bussiness' I am targeted by the government to pay for someone else. I am pretty damn sick of this!!!
