Rufe Snow bridge, just 7 years old, doesn't fit in North Tarrant Express project

The Rufe Snow bridge over Loop 820 is only seven years old, but one of its supports is in the wrong position for the $2.5 billion North Tarrant Express project. So, in the next few weeks, crews plans to lift up the enormous structure and place it on a new support. The old support will then be demolished later on.

Fort Worth transit agency is at its 'tipping point' after delays in TEX Rail commuter project to DFW Airport

Fort Worth leaders are intervening to save the TEX Rail project, which they say is being unnecessarily delayed by the Fort Worth Transportation Authority. The 37-mile commuter rail line would serve Texas Christian University, Fort Worth's medical district, downtown, the Stockyards, Grapevine and the north end of Dallas Fort Worth Airport.

New highway stretches opening in Grapevine, at DFW Airport

Two rebuilt sections of highway bridges on the northern end of Dallas Fort Worth Airport in Grapevine are opening up this week - providing motorists with a bit of payoff for their several years of patience with the DFW Connector project.

Both structures will improve traffic flow in and out of the airport, said Kristen Schropp, spokeswoman for NorthGate Constructors, which is overseeing the project.

Beginning at 8 p.m. Thursday evening, traffic will be switched to a new northbound International Parkway bridge - for vehicles exiting at the airport's north end. Once the switch is complete, by 6 a.m. Friday, cars will be traveling on permanent pavement, rather than a temporary detour.

Then on Friday evening, crews will begin switching southbound Texas 121 traffic to a new bridge to westbound Texas 114. The switch will be complete by 6 a.m. Monday, officials said. Once that switch is complete, traffic on westbound Texas 114 will be traveling on new pavement between International Parkway and Texan Trail.

Also during the coming weekend, crews will demolish the old northbound International Parkway bridge north of the airport. The goal is to get that work done before GrapeFest, the annual event that draws thousands of visitors to historical downtown Grapevine.

Motorists can expect some pretty intense detours and traffic delays over the weekend in the Grapevine area, while workers make the switches. For information on how traffic will flow through, visit DFWConnector.com.

Arlington police target school-bus stop sign runners

Arlington drivers, did you get caught running a school bus stop sign this morning on Cooper Street?

Relax, ten people did in the space of only a few minutes  during rush hour on Tuesday morning . Arlington police joined with the school district to call attention to traffic laws regarding stopped school buses flashing fold-out stop signs as children are boarding.

It can mean a very hefty $425 fine.
