Starting Friday, say good-bye to a handful of eastbound Texas 121/183 on- and off-ramps.
Norwood Drive on-ramp won’t be coming back. Traffic will detour to the Bedford Road on-ramp until a new eastbound on-ramp between Brown Trail and Bedford Road opens about 12 months from now.
The eastbound off-ramp from Airport Freeway to Bedford Road will be closed for about a year. A temporary off-ramp serving Brown Trail, Bedford Road and Forest Ridge Drive will take its place.
The Central Drive on-ramp to eastbound Texas 183 will be closed for six months. Drivers must use the next on-ramp at Westpark Way.
It’s all part of the $2.5 billion North Tarrant Express project that is rebuilding main lanes and frontage roads and adding toll lanes on 13.5 miles of Northeast Loop 820 and Airport Freeway from Interstate 35W to Industrial Boulevard.
“We are making significant progress along the corridor, but this requires regular and strategic changes to the traffic configuration to keep the project advancing as quickly as possible while trying to mitigate the impact on drivers,” said Robert Hinkle, director of corporate affairs for NTE Mobility Partners, the project developer. “As with all areas of the corridor, we really need drivers to slow down and pay close attention to the signage that will direct them to which on-ramps and off-ramps are now open.”
