Polytechnic HIgh School is set to be closed by the state next year if it doesn't improve its academic standing. State Rep. Marc Veasey, D-Fort Worth, has filed a bill to let Poly keep its name and give it more time to get its act together. Veasey says wiping out Poly would erase the local community's heritage.
S-T ed reporter Eva-Marie Ayala has the details.

PLEASE!! Poly has had years to get its act together. The time has come for the price to be paid, our childrens lives are worth MUCH more then that. Sorry Poly, If the parents would have got off their butts and assumed responsibility and had raised their children this would have not had to happen. Sorry Mr. Veasey I disagree with you on this one.

Feel free to express your displeasure to the FWISD for Poly's plight, but don't blame it on the students, parents, teachers or building administrators. If you visit Poly, you will see some of the finest teaching going on anywhere in the FWISD. You will also see a wonderful learning environment where students are making double digit gains in Math, Science and Language Arts.
The regrettable news is there are more schools in Poly's situation in the FWISD. They are just a year or two behind Poly in
terms of the "AYP" report card. My question is...What will the FWISD do to never let this happen again?
Good Luck to Poly!
