The race for U.S. House District 6 -- now represented by U.S. Rep. Joe Barton, R-Arlington -- is getting more crowded.
Itamar Gelbman, a New York native who grew up in Israel, announced Wednesday that he's running against Barton in the Republican primary next year. He previously was interested in running in the District 25 race.
"This is a 'David vs. Goliath'-like battle," Gelbman's press release said. "In this political fight, he is 'Young David,' never having ran for office. He is fighting a real 'Goliath,' the long serving Congressman, Joe Barton."
Gelbman, who was born in New York and moved at an early age to Israel with his parents, returned to the United States eight years ago and began a personal security firm.
Former Addison Mayor Joe Chow and Arlington's Frank C. Kuchar, who supervises the payroll department for a law firm, also are in the race.
