While Tarrant County has loomed large in ongoing battles over how to redraw state senate and congressional districts, local criticism of the state house proposal passed last year by the Republican-led Legislature has been far more muted. Under this map, Tarrant County will gain an 11th House district due to population growth. That district, 101, is based in minority communities in the southeast corner of the county. Former state representatives Paula Pierson and Chris Turner, both Democrats, are running for the seat.
