A slew of political endorsements have been given in recent days to candidates in local congressional races. Here's a look at some of the most recent:
Dr. Rod Paige, the former U.S. Secretary of Education, and Lee Alcorn of Dallas, a civil rights leader, have lined up behind Kyev Tatum, one of 11 Democrats running for the newly drawn 33rd Congressional District that stretches from Fort Worth to Dallas.
State Rep. Marc Veasey, D-Fort Worth, who also is running for CD 33, has recently picked support from the AFL-CIO for the Transport Workers Union of America, United Auto Workers International, International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers District Lodge 776 and the Tarrant County Central Labor Council.
And Chad Wilbanks, one of 12 Republicans running for the reconfigured 25th Congressional District that stretches from Tarrant County to Austin, has picked up support from three former Republican Party of Texas leaders. Rene Diaz, Dennis Donley and Donna Davidson -- who all have served as general counsel for the Republican Party -- have endorsed Wilbanks.
"Chad is a limited government conservative who will not compromise his core values," Donley said.
