State Rep. Marc Veasey picked up a new endorsement this week from the Congressional Black Caucus Political Action Committee.
Veasey, D-Fort Worth, faces off against former state Rep. Domingo Garcia, D-Dallas, in the July 31 primary runoff election as they both seek to become the first person to represent the newly drawn 33rd Congressional District that stretches from Fort Worth's Stockyards to Dallas' Oak Cliff neighborhood.
“The candidates whom the Congressional Black Caucus works hard to elect do not necessarily have to be African-American but rather they simply have to demonstrate that they are the best person to represent the interests of our community," said U.S. Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson, D-Dallas, a member of the CBC PAC leadership. "Marc Veasey has done exactly that.
"Whether we are talking about fighting for local jobs at General Motors and Lockheed, protecting minority voting rights or securing funding for our neighborhood schools, Marc has never failed to be a champion for our community and we eagerly anticipate having such a strong and able advocate join us in Congress.”
