A Fort Worth nonprofit group, 619 Productions, wants to renovate the historic Grand Theater in southeast Fort Worth into a youth arts center and a movie house.
Today, 619 runs afterschool and Saturday programs for youth, including singing, dancing, acting, painting, drawing, computer graphics, and video.
Director Cinetrea Grace is looking for someone who’s willing to donate two 24-ton air conditioners, which she says are the last big piece of the theater renovation. 619 has a lease-to-buy arrangement with the building’s owner, she said.
Once the building opens, Grace wants to run 619’s full lineup of programs in it. She also wants to run weekly family movie nights, and even movie premieres.
