Interesting week or two ahead for Fort Worth. The Fort Worth Employees' Retirement Fund has scheduled a special meeting for noon Tuesday to canvass the results of the Fort Worth Police Officers Association member vote on whether to raise pension contributions to maintain the retirement benefit formula for police.
And the city is set to hear - by mail - from the federal Justice Department sometime after Oct. 1 on whether the city's proposed council redistricting maps pass muster with the Voting Rights Act.
If a majority of eligible police vote in favor of raising their pension contributions, then it would fall to the City Council to decide whether to accept the results and enter a negotiation with the POA.
And just in time, Mayor Betsy Price is scheduled to return Monday from a trade mission to Dubai.
