Crews will partially open the new Hulen Street bridge in Fort Worth this weekend, the city said.
Two northbound lanes and one southbound lane will open. “A portion will be used to stage equipment (for) the old bridge’s demolition,” the city said. Pedestrian and bicycle traffic will be prohibited.
The new bridge —east of the existing bridge. — crosses the Trinity River, Union Pacific Davidson Yard, and the Chisholm Trail Parkway, which is under construction.
The new bridge is scheduled for completion in Spring 2013. It will feature three traffic lanes in both directions and a 10-foot-wide pedestrian walkway on the northbound side.
Chisholm Trail Parkway, a 28.6-mile toll road that will extend from Fort Worth’s Central Business District to U.S. 67 in Cleburne, is expected to open to traffic by mid-2014.
