Burleson's own Kelly Clarkson is getting solid reviews for her performan of "My Country, 'Tis of Thee" at President Barack Obama's inauguration today. Inaugural emcee New York Sen. Chuck Schumer, one of the leading Democrats in Congress, gave this one word reaction to Clarkson's performance: "Wow!"
With Texas still a solidly Republican state, politicians from the Lone Star State didn't have much of a role in today's festivities, and the weekend's Black Tie and Boots ball was a much smaller bash than it was in the past. But there was a Texas presence among the celebrities and entertainers throughout the weekend. Not only did Clarkson get to sing today, but Houston's Beyonce Knowles closed out the ceremony with a rousing version of the Star Spangled Banner. And television network cameras couldn't get enough of Eva Longoria in crowd shots at the Capitol. Terrell's own Jamie Foxx was ever-present at festivities.
