Time to turn the burner down on the H-E-B central city fire in Cowtown.
H-E-B said late today it's finished its due diligence review of the site at Rosedale and Miller in southeast Fort Worth, which it confirmed recently it had under contract, and doesn't plan to buy the site.\
Here's the word from Heather Senter, a spokeswoman in Fort Worth for H-E-B's Central Market stores:
"After extensive site review and due diligence, H-E-B has learned that the site at Rosedale/Miller does not meet the company's facility needs. Therefore, they will not be purchasing the property. H-E-B will continue to evaluate and periodically acquire property for future locations, including other H-E-B formats. Central Market will continue to be the primary format and growth vehicle for the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex."
The potential entry of H-E-B into Fort Worth caught fire after the company's name surfaced on a zoning application connected to the Rosedale property.
