Mayor Betsy Price confirmed Stars chief Jim Lites and members of his staff met six weeks ago to discuss the possibility of the hockey team appearing in Fort Worth. Lites told D Magazine's FrontBurner blog the team is interested in having its training camp at the Fort Worth Convention Center
“We like the idea” of having the Stars in Fort Worth, Price said. “There are a lot of hockey fans in Fort Worth.”
The city has the capability of producing ice for events at either the Fort Worth Convention Center or the arena at the Will Rogers Memorial Center.
“They gave us a lot of ideas, but we have not seen a firm plan yet,” Price said.
The Stars are now working with members of the city staff on the plan, she said.
“I think we just have to work with them on the cost and the dates,” she said. “We’re working closely with them to see if we can make it happen.”
