Airbase Services, a major aircraft interiors firm in Grand Prairie (@gp_tx), is asking the @cityoffortworth to waive $30,000 in fees for a possible headquarters and manufacturing plant in the CentrePort Business Park.
Airbase proposes to build and equip a 225,000-square-foot facility at CentrePort at more than $11.5 million, the city staff said in a report to City Council members.
"The project will cause the retention of at least 204 employees, and bring approximately 400 new fulltime positions to the Fort Worth area at an average annual salary of $31,000," the report said.
Airbase is asking the city to waive building, zoning, temporary encroachment, platting, and fire sprinkler and alarm permit fees, totally about $30,000, the report said.
The staff recommended the council approve the waiver and scheduled a vote for the Feb. 19 meeting.
Airbase is considering Fort Worth, Indianapolis, Miami, and Los Angeles for the facility, the report said. Its current facility is at 902 Avenue T, east of Texas 360 and south of Post & Paddock St.
Airbase does aircraft interior reconfiguration, restoration and refurbishing, and "refreshing." The company does business domestically and internationally, including clients in China, South Korea, France, and El Salvador.
