In the unlikely State of the Union guests' dept., comes rocker Ted Nugent, who will be attending the president's speech tomorrow night as the guest of U.S. Rep. Steve Stockman, R-Friendswood. Nugent, an ardent gun owner, has raised his national profile by speaking out on any limitations on guns. Stockman, a freshman who served one term in the 1990s, is also a strong 2nd amendment advocate who has made something of a splash in the five weeks he's been in office this time.
“I am excited to have a patriot like Ted Nugent joining me in the House Chamber to hear from President Obama,” said Stockman. “After the Address I’m sure Ted will have plenty to say.”
Media Matters, an anti-conservative media group immediately produced a list of what they said were Nugent's most inflammatory comments. http://mediamatters.org/research/2013/02/11/20-inflammatory-comments-from-state-of-the-unio/192618
Nugent will not be seated on the House floor with lawmakers, the Cabinet and the Supreme Court justices -- though that would make for some interesting chit-chat -- but will have a spot in the galleries that surround the chamber.
