DALLAS -- More than a dozen people carrying signs supporting the re-election of David Dewhurst stood outside the KERA building where a debate between the four Republicans seeking the post of lieutenant governor is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.
Those standing outside, in near freezing temperatures, said they wanted to send a signal.
Dewhurst is seeking re-election to the state's No. 2 job and faces challenges from state Sen. Dan Patrick of Houston, Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson and Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples in the Republican primary.
"We are here to support Dewhurst for the debate," said Alice Linahan of Argile. "We want him to know we are here listening and watching."
