United Airlines announced on Friday that it was giving away cars to 11 employees who had perfect attendance.
The carrier said that the 11 winners were selected randomly and each employee had perfect attendance during at least one of three six-month periods beginning in July, 2010. Thousands of employees were eligible, United said.
"Perfect attendant facilitates a work environment of dependability and trust, and enables us to provide our customers with consistent, reliable service," said United vice president of employee relations Donna Towle.
The winners chose between a Ford Explorer, a Ford Escape, a Ford Mustang and a Ford Focus and the company will pay all expenses with the car, including sales tax, title and license.United said it has given away 180 new vehicles since its perfect attendance program began in 1996.

Meanwhile at American Airlines the beating will continue as there employee moral continues to take a nose dive as with their service.

Sounds like a good incentive to me! The new Ford Escape looks great and Ford is really on the money with their new engines.

This is nothing new. This is a program Continental has had since the mid 90's. Since today's United is really Continental with a new name, it makes sense they would roll this out the expanded company. What doesn't make sense is that the company has nearly doubled in size, but they still limit it to 11 employees.

I have worked at AA nearly 20 years. You know what they give you for perfect attendance? I go several years at a time without calling in sick. Then when I do the lost time supervisor brow beats me about doctors notes and hands me literature about substance abuse. Not quite a new car.

Heck, Joe- if you were a flight attendant with 15 years seniority you could walk out the door with $40K.
If you were a pilot you could have had about $100K in equity, until the union and your fellow members screwed you.
If you're a ground guy... I can't help you.
