Members of the Communications Workers of America will be passing out leaflets at fifteen airports across the country on Friday, including Dallas/Fort Worth Airport, to protest American Airlines' efforts to block a union representation vote.
The CWA has been trying to organize American's 10,000 passenger service agents. It had been granted the right to hold a union representation vote by the National Mediation Board this past spring, but the vote has been delayed by several court appeals made by American. The latest appeal at the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals was sent back to a lower court, which was ordered to throw out the case.
"Paying contract employees poverty wages is bad for passengers, bad for safety and bad for security," CWA said in a press statement.
