-Qatar Airways could be the latest airline to join American Airlines' Oneworld alliance, according to this report in USA Today. "If Qatar Airways does join oneworld, oneworld would become the first to successfully woo one of the region's three global giants. It would allow oneworld to add Qatar's Doha hub to the collective route network offered by its members and would likely leave the other two alliances — Star and SkyTeam — scrambling to court Qatar Airways rivals Etihad and Emirates," the blog post says.

-Delta Air Lines is teaming up with Alaska Airlines to expand the Atlanta-based carrier's reach into Asia. The Associated Press reports that Delta wants to add a flight between Seattle and Shanghai starting next June as well as proposing a flight between Seattle and Tokyo's Haneda airport.
