Southwest says passenger traffic dropped 2.1 percent in September

Southwest Airlines said that passenger traffic declined 2.1 percent in September as the carrier cut capacity by 1 percent.

The Dallas-based carrier's load factor decreased 0.8 percentage points to 77.0 percent for September.

Unit revenues also dropped two to three percent compared to September 2011, the company said.
