Discount carrier Spirit Airlines announced on Tuesday that it will open a flight attendant and pilot crew base at Dallas/Fort Worth Airport in December
The carrier said its base will have about 170 flight attendants and 80 pilots by next summer. It will also grow its maintenance base at DFW to 30 mechanics and maintenance-related workers.
"As Spirit continues to expand operations at DFW, we are very excited to also add quality local jobs and to open a new crew base here," said chief operating officer Tony Lefebvre.
Spirit has grown its flight schedule rapidly since reintroducing service at DFW in 2011. The carrier plans to have flights to 26 destinations by June 2013.
