Full Tilt in Arlington tomorrow afternoon

Thursday at 1 p.m., the new generation of the AW189 prototype -- twin-engined, medium-lift helicopter by AgustaWestland -- is expected to take a lift across Arlington skies.

"The event is a unique chance before AW189 development trials move on few days later,'' according to a press release for the company. AgustaWestland is based in Italy but is doing crucial testing of the helicopter in the U.S. The program kicks off at Arlington Municipal Airport.

Sources say the helicopter is expected to be certified by 2013 and in service in 2014. It will be ideal for offshore helicopter support, search and rescue and passenger transport roles.
