-Southwest Airlines is making a bid for slots at Washington D.C.'s Reagan National Airport. The Dallas-based carrier, along with JetBlue Airways and US Airways, are bidding on the slots which became available after Spirit Airlines moved its flight operations to Baltimore, according to this Associated Press article.
-Consumer advocates say the U.S. Department of Transportation ignored proposals that will protect airline passengers from abuse as the department put together new aviation consumer rules. This USA Today article says the most contested issue is whether airlines should include bag fees and seat assignments int he price when the tickets are sold online. "Airlines are expected to oppose the rule if it forces them to provide competitive information to comparison sites, which then charge consumers for it," the article says.
-And Kobe Bryant appears in this Turkish Airlines ad with soccer star, Lionel Messi. The ad, posted on Youtube last week, already has 22 million views.
