Monday Midday Must-Reads

-No carry-on luggage going into an overhead bin? You get to board early. American Airlines is testing this new boarding process at airports in Baltimore, Austin, Washington-Dulles and Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood, according to the Los Angeles Times.

-My colleague at the Charlotte Observer, Ely Portillo, talked with US Airways chief executive Doug Parker last week. Parker and other US Airways executives want a voice in choosing the next airport executive in Charlotte, according to this article.

-Terry Maxon, at the Dallas Morning News, gave a nice overview of the Wright Amendment which is scheduled to expire in October of 2014 in this article (subscription required). Southwest Airlines, Love Field and Dallas/Fort Worth Airport are all gearing up for the relaxation of rules that will allow long-haul flights out of Love Field.
