American announces $119.7 million private offering

American Airlines announced a $119.7 million private offering of "pass through certificates" on Thursday.

The "Class C" certificates will be secured by eight Boeing 737-800s, one Boeing 777-200 and two Boeing 777-300 aircraft that American currently owns. It will also be secured by two new Boeing 777-300 planes American is scheduled to receive this summer.

The certificates will rank below the Class A and Class B certificates that American issued for $663 million in March.
