US Airways said its consolidated passenger traffic rose 7.0 percent in May as the carrier added more capacity.
Capacity grew 4.9 percent as its consolidated load factor increased 1.7 percentage points to 87.8 percent.
"Our June consolidated (mainline and Express) passenger revenue per available seat mile (PRASM) increased approximately one percent versus the same period last year," said US Airways president Scott Kirby. "Despite record load factors and excessive weather challenges, our 32,000 employees have continued to do an outstanding job of taking care of our customers during this busy summer travel period and we thank them for their hard work."
The carrier said its domestic passenger traffic rose 6.8 percent as it boosted capacity by 4.4 percent while its Atlantic international traffic increased 5.6 percent as the airline added 3.6 percent more capacity.
