US Airways said its consolidated passenger traffic rose 6.3 percent in July as the Tempe-based carrier increased its capacity by 3.0 percent.
Its load factor also grew 1.8 percentage points to 84.7 compared to the same month last year.
"Our July consolidated (mainline and Express) passenger revenue per available seat mile (PRASM) increased approximately five percent versus the same period last year," said US Airways president Scott Kirby in a statement. "Notwithstanding the operational challenges created by high load factors and difficult summer weather conditions, our 32,000 team members continue to do a tremendous job of taking care of our customers."
US Airways plans to merge with American Airlines' parent company, AMR Corp. in September pending government approval.
