AMR says passenger traffic rose 3.2 percent in August

AMR Corp. said passenger traffic rose 3.2 percent in August as the airline increased its capacity by 4.2 percent.

Its load factor dropped 0.8 percentage points to 85.0 percent, said the Fort Worth-based company, which owns American Airlines and regional carrier American Eagle.

Unit revenues grew an estimated 3.0 percent compared to August 2012, AMR said.

Domestic traffic increased 0.8 percent as the airline increased capacity by 1.7 percent. International traffic rose 6.7 percent on an 8.1 percent increase in capacity.
