DFW Airport was 8th busiest airport in the world in 2012

With 58 million passengers in 2012, Dallas/Fort Worth Airport was the 8th busiest in the world, according to a new report.

Atlanta's Hartfield-Jackson Airport topped the list compiled by the Airports Council International with 95 million passengers, easily beating second place Beijing, which had 81 million passengers.

"Passenger traffic around the world continue to grow in spite of a climate that is best described as global economic uncertainty," said Angela Gittens, director general of ACI World.

Airports served more than 5.7 billion passengers in 2012, up 4.4 percent from the previous year.

DFW Airport had a modest increase in 2012, with 1.4 percent more passengers served. Of the top 10 busiest airports, Dubai's airport experienced the largest growth with an increase of 13.2 percent more passengers in 2012.
