Bankruptcy judge schedules Nov. 25 hearing to decide on DOJ settlement

U.S. bankruptcy judge Sean Lane has scheduled a hearing at 10 a.m. on November 25 to possibly approve American Airlines' settlement agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice.

Judge Lane had already approved the merger agreement between American and US Airways and the restructuring plan that creditors voted in favor of over the summer.

In his order, filed Wednesday, Lane said objections to the settlement need to be filed by noon on November 21 with replies to those objections filed by 6 p.m. on November 23.

If Lane approves the settlement agreement, the carriers said they expect to close the merger by mid-December.
